You start to office in the morning… The traffic is sulking…. You hesitantly enter into a government office for some documentation work to be done…. What you see is long queues, no discipline, bribery & corruption etc…. This situation and much more happens to almost all of us in our day to day life in India. This puts up some serious questions. Are these happening only in India? Is this problem eternal? Some of us often speak of Singapore roads, US government office departments (where your work gets completed within the stipulated time, no long queues and particularly no bribery) etc and compare this with Indian conditions. Is India not a better place to live in?
Though India proudly boasts of growth over 9%, we are well aware that inclusive growth (overall) is not happening. The BPL (Below Poverty Line) in India stands over 30bn of 110bn. Corruption is at highest level - Ok accepted! There are bottlenecks across various sectors that needs to be addressed immediately and can wreck havoc if not attended. Yet, all these told - I strongly feel that India is a better place to live in. Here is why?
In India,
You will not respect traffic rules, yet no one will question you. Even you can create traffic chaos & still blame others.
You can spit, urinate, smoke in public. No one will ask you a word. Of course, these are your birth rights. Isn't it?
You can always complain about everything you have. Say for example- government, politics, school, educational system, Public distribution system, roads, and sewage systems.
You can be as much corrupt as you can, but still complain of corruption.
You can speak, write all non-sense, but still defend this as civic freedom
You need not even worry or discuss about problems in other regions of the country, but be happier to discuss weekend movies and their box office revenues.
You will not pay your tax properly, still can complain that actors and politicians do not pay taxes.
You can be a religious fanatic, still boast of being secular.
You can forget all happenings around you very soon. …
You can complain if holidays come on weekends. Yet, never try to know the importance of these days.
Just which other country allows you to do all these things? You can do anything in India and still speak ill of India…. That’s India…. Tell me Is India not a better place to live in…?
